This opportunity runs annually. It provides a chance for young people across Canada to create a celebration of youth led events showcasing their talents, expressing and exchanging ideas, getting excited about the arts and celebrating their positive contribution to their communities and to Canada.
From St. John's, NFLD, to Vancouver, BC, and everywhere in between!
OSSTF Student Achievement Awards

The Student Achievement Awards is a writing and creative arts competition, which is open to all public secondary school students in Ontario. The competition is meant to encourage the intellectual development of our students and an interest in society.
Each year, a new theme is determined by the Recognition and Promotion Sub-Committee of the Communications/Political Action Committee.

OSSTF/FEESO invites student writers and artists to submit creative work exploring each year’s theme. Judging is held at the school, district, regional and provincial levels. Eight provincial winners will be awarded $1000 each in prizes and is invited to the Annual General Meeting in March, where a video showcasing their work will be screened.

Scholarships & Contests
Highschool
Student Achievement Award in honour of Marian Drysdale
Writing and creative arts competition for all public secondary school students in Ontario; a student must be supported by an OSSTF/FEESO member who has worked directly with the student; submit creative work based on the year’s theme.

Indigenous Arts & Stories Competition
Open to Canadians of Indigenous ancestry. Create a writing or art piece that explores Indigenous heritage or culture.

This contest invites students to get outside and create original works of art, writing, photography, videography and music inspired by nature. Get Outdoors and “Get to Know Your Wild Neighbours”. The goal is to be as creative as possible.

Through the annual National Youth Remembrance Contests, the Legion National Foundation, with the assistance of The Royal Canadian Legion and schools across the country, invite Canadian youth and children to honour Canada’s Veterans and foster the tradition of Remembrance through visual art, writing, and video.
All winners at the national level are awarded a cash prize for their work. First Place Senior Winners are eligible for our most prestigious award – a trip to Ottawa and an opportunity to represent the youth of Canada at the National Remembrance Day Ceremony.

Post Secondary
1st BMO Art!
BMO Financial Group's 1st Art! celebrates the creativity of art students from post-secondary institutions across Canada. A distinguished selection committee chooses a national winner and one winner from each eligible province and territory.
The national winner receives $10,000 and the regional winners each receive $5,000 for their artwork. More details can be found through their website 1start.bmo.com
RBC Canadian Painting Competition
The competition focuses on supporting artists at the early stage of their careers. More than just financial support, this program offers mentorship, exposure to audiences and more.
Three regional juries select five paintings from their regions to make up the fifteen finalists
They determine one national winner and two honourable mentions from the 15 finalists. The national winner receives a purchase prize of $25,000, the two honourable mentions each receive $15,000 and the remaining 12 finalist receive $2,500 each. More information can be found at www.rbc.com
